I can't get TVLand on my cable box, yet the main TV in the house gets it; why?

You have 2 TVs, each with a cable box, one HD and one SD (standard def). You have one Comcast account and one subscription to a digital channel package plus the HD channels.

What should be happening is that 2 boxes receive exactly the same channels, except the TV with the HD box should also be receiving the HD channels. You get those automatically from Comcast when you pay the extra fee for an HD box.

Forget the telephone support line. Instead, log into www.comcast.net with your ID and password, select TV, then follow the prompts for On Line Chat help. You'll get a keyboard connection to a rep who can help you. I used that resource many times when I had Comcast. I never had to wait very long and the answers I got were usually helpful.

I have Comcast, and I just switched to digital cable via an HD cable box. Strange thing is, TVLand is suddenly gone. I have Comcast, and it's channel 50 for us. The main TV in our house has regular digital cable (no HD) and it gets TVLand. When I select the guide on my TV, it goes from channel 49 yo 51. Even entering 50 manually doesn't get it. I'm bummed because this is my favorite channel!

I called Comcast and after being on hold for 45 minutes (that's right) I couldn't stand it anymore, so I hung up.

Does anyone have any idea why one cable box in the house would get that channel, while the other doesn't?

Most likely the Comcast's digital HD cable plan you signed up for doesn't have TV Land. It's also possible that it's just on a different channel on the HD box, but you'll have to ask Comcast or go to their site to figure out what it is.

By the way, when I've needed to contact comcast, I've used the online support chat instead of calling. It's usually a shorter wait, and you can do other stuff on your computer while you wait. But unfortunately, the agents aren't any better. :-)
