i cant figure out if my sidekick 2008 is faulty or if its my memory card?

I have a sidekick 2008 (yeah i know its pretty out dated), but i accidently over filled up my 2g memory stick for it and when i put it in it froze my phone. After deleting some music&pictures i had on it i had about half of my memory full, when i put it back in my phone, it froze it again. but before that i recently added a couple new songs that may have had a virus, so i deleted those off of it too, but sure enough when i put it back in it froze again. im thinking about just buying a new memory stick seeing that there not expensive, but i want to make sure its just not my phone. So do you think its my memory sticks or just my phone? ive been so stuck on this :/
