I'm 17. A few days ago, my jaw got stuck closed, and nobody knows why. I just woke up and wasn't able to open my mouth more than a couple of millimetres. It hurts all the time, but if I try and open or move my jaw, it is especially painful. The doctor gave me some (painful) exercises to try, and said that if it's not better in about three months, then I should come back and they'll book me for an operation on my jaw.
Anyway, I can speak, but it hurts a lot to try, and it's hard to understand me anyway, so I don't want to talk. But that annoys my family, who think I can kind of 'walk it off' if I talk a lot (which the doctor told me NOT to do). They just laugh at me. I can just about drink liquids and soup though a straw, but my mum won't let me do that: she's trying to get me to eat normal food, which I can't do. She's in denial, I guess.
So, yeah. I'm lonely (because I hate talking now), hungry and in quite a lot of pain. And the doctor said it's going to get worse before it gets better, if it gets better at all.
I'm prone to depression and I don't want it to happen again. How do I stop this situation making me depressed??
