It slides the rear wheel in 5th (high) gear even at speeds over 10 miles per hour downhill.
Is there away to bump start it? Even in 5th gear it slides the wheel.

The common practice of "popping the clutch" as it is called on any vehicle that uses a clutch like a auto or motorcycyle is easy.

Push the vehicle to a roll and get to speed, the first gear shift is at 10mph so you should have the speed lower than this but not slower than 3mph.
next depress the clutch shift to first gear and slowly release the clutch as if you are about to shift gears, apply gas as you hear the engine wind up to turn over as always.
The engine should fire up.
Next get your electric starter fixed and if you haven't tried kick starting it yet!

No, no, no.

Use second gear. As long as your bike runs it will start in second.

5th is way to high, you are not able to turn the engine over.
Think about it, if you were riding at 5-10 mph and put it in 5th, it would
die, right? Why would it start at 5-10 mph in 5th?

Trust me on this.

1st or 2nd gear.
When you get it rolling, jump up and plop your butt on the seat just as you pop the clutch.
That will press all of your weight down onto the rear wheel, to help prevent it from skidding.

The other answerers are all clueless. I get the same results with my DR. It's the only bike I have never been able to bump start. Why? I have no idea.
