And with what materials? Obviously I cant build the filter or heater, but the glass part itself. Experience would be nice.

hi
10 gal tanks are only like 10$ for just the tank and no features. thats less than it would cost to make one i think.
for LARGE aquariums ive heard of people filling up garbage cans with water to make a koi pond.
or kiddy pools.
you can get "glass vase bowls" at walmart type stores for cheep. some long some tall some wide. different shapes and sizes. they make some of them pretty large. instead of pot poporii u could put in some fish.
to make an aquarium out of plexiglass and silicon from scratch without expertise sounds like a bad idea.

i built a fish tank for about $300 less for what i would have paid for buying it new.. i have a good guide to building fish tanks, but just so you know its not as easy as it seems.. i thought i had put it together really well but turned out it leaked so had to take it all apart and start over.

heres the guide i used

EDIT: well obviously its a good site haha well recommended :)

Depending on the size you want it can be quite expensive for just the materials. Say if your looking at a 200 gallon tank you would likely want 3/8" tempered glass. You would want to reinforce the corners so they don't pull apart and use silicone to seal against the water. Make sure you get fish safe silicone as some types will kill the fish. If your looking for a 50- gallon tank you could get away with 1/4" tempered glass. 1/4" tempered isn't all that expensive. The trick is getting a good seal so it doesn't leak. Glass will go up in price if you get the edges polished to make them pretty, but if you put a wood frame around the edge you wouldn't need it.
