I can't afford an attorney,so how do i go about to get one by court?

I know i have to go to the court and get one by them..but how? Do i have to tell the judge,or someone else? And do i have to go to a certain part in the courthouse to ask for one,or what? I have no idea how to do any of this,i have never had to do it before..I've never even been in a courthouse before..Lol And they seem confusing with a whole a list of different categories. So i would really appreciate anyone who can explain to me how to get an attorney by court. Thanks so much.
I need an attorney to get my son back,and to find stuff out since the couple won't tell me what's going on. They only have Temporary Guardianship of him. So i really need to get an attorney for help.
 
When asked if you can afford your own attorney, you state that you are indigent, and you wish to have a court appointed attorney. Miranda:"...If you can not afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you."
