I can't add gadgets to my sidebar!?

When I press the button to add gadgets no window appears. I dunno what happened. If they are deleted, can someone tell me how to restore them?

NOTE: I'm using Windows Vista NOT XP.
 
Click start menu, in search box, type in "Sidebar" no Quotation please!
click on it, and you will get what you want there.
