Will not connect, get error that the router is too far away from laptop. The laptop is one foot from router. ATT wants a fortune to set up my Dell with the ATT router. Someone must have had this same problem and found a solution.
Thanks

Sorry you are having trouble.
MB's answer was right on the money.
Routers want to be in control of everything network. Before you can connect wireles you must be able to talk to the router. Most routers are on a local network such as 192.168.0.1
To find out what the laptop is on simply find the "run" command or Command prompt. This will take you to C:\
From the command prompt type in "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and see what the laptop says its IP Address is.
When the laptop and the router are on the same network (and yours probably is not) then you can do a "ping" to see if you can talk to the router.
Wireless networks can be very frustrating. Be patient and I can guide you every step of the way.
I hope this helps
