i cannot believe there is no moulin rouge appreciation thread!

I just re-watched this after not seeing it for ages :D

I adore it. I think it's so beautifully and imaginatively filmed - nevermind how damned gorgeous Ewan looks all the way through! I love both discs of the soundtrack too. And I *always* cry at the end when Christian breaks down :(
 
I also walked out of Moulin Rouge halfway through. How many times can you keep saying/singing the worRAB of Elton John's Your Song before it becomes boring. All Ewan kept saying was lyrics from Your song. It may have been clever at first but after the 10th time it became repetative and boring!
 
God, I hated that film but have been trying to remember the 10 shittest films I have ever seen for a list on another forum.

Indeed. Round about "Like a Virgin" is where it pales for me. Too much repetitive up and down. Too many Madonna songs. The ending is muddled and incoherent.

Also I am not keen on the plot. I always side with the Duke. He is deceived - why couldn't she be honest with him? They are just a couple of evil low-life taking the Duke for every penny they can while screwing each other's brains out.
