I bought a used car without a title. what do i have to do, and how much will

The person you bought it from should have signed the title over to you. There is a possibility that if they didn't/don't have the title that there is money owed to someone for the car--which means, whoever has the title can take the car for the money owed because if they have the title, they own the car. Call the tag office in your county, find out how you go about doing a tag search and getting a replacement title. That will probably show you if the title is clear and the person you bought it from just lost the paper instead of owing money on the car. The tag office can find out if there is a clear title. The fee would most likely be different for different places. Good luck.
