i bought a set of rear leaf spring to go on a dodge dakota,?

how do you tell which end is front and which is back the truck has no springs under it for me to tell

The short end goes forward.

Oh boy, this sounds fun.
If there's no markings at all, but obviously different mounting... try going around town to find another Dakota and take a peak at how it was done.
