nice but...? just run a Carfax report and it shows that in 8/2008 it was declared a total loss by the insurance company and it has a rebuilt title, meaning that I think it was in a car accident. So I'm scared now, don't know if I made a mistake buying the car, or not. The engine looks and runs fine according with my mechanic. Give me your opinion please!

Should've run the the carfax before the purchase, but now that you've got the car, can you take it back and demand they do something because they didn't tell you about the damage. You might want to go to your state attorney general's office and see what options they will furnish you.

A vehicle with a salvage or rebuilt title may or may not be a great car.

Your mechanic says the engine is fine, but what you don't know is the condition of the rest of the car, and what repairs it took to get it back on the road.

A "totaled" vehicle really can have little damage! I bought one for my daughter (Neon) 6 years ago that was totaled. It needed a fender, hood, windshield, rear bumper cover and paint. Cost $700.00 and $700.00 more for repairs (did that myself).

You may have overpaid for your car. Four grand seems a bit steep. The car should be okay though, they do have to be inspected before a title is re-issued.

Wouldn't it make more sense to do your checks before buying. . .?
Always perform a title search , crash history, & have a AAA inspection before purchasing a used vehicle.

should check before buying...but if mechanic likes it and you like it..forget what title...too late...and with that title you probably cant sell it...so Party on Garth!!! drive it into the ground..
