i bought a bike, how can i check if it was stolen?

the guy i bought the motorcycle from looked kind of dirty with his deals. is there any website i can get into to check on the vin number?
 
You didn't get the registration ???

I would take photos, then go to the police, state you bought it, but forgot to get the registration. If it's stolen, at least YOU are less likely to be going to jail for grand-theft auto !! I'd also have any contact information you had for this sketchy character.

Be prepared to have to surrender the bike, unless YOU have a receipt.
 
You can always call local cops to run the vin #. Trouble with that is that if it is stolen, they might want you to return it. Accessory to stolen property, you would be (as Yoda would say).
 
Go to DMV and try to transfer the title. They will check and let you know.
