It says astronomical telescope on the side. The first thing that I noticed when I looked through the spotter scope was that the image was upside down. The second thing that I noticed was that I could only focus on things that were very far away. The model I bought was similar to Orion Observer 60mm Altazimuth Refractor Telescope. I was only given the one 25 mm eye piece and when I looked out into a field with it everything was very bright. A couple of things that I want to know. Should I get the other 10 or 12 mm eye piece. And is the lense supposed to have that whittish look to it. When I read orion's description they talked about a coated lens - Does that make it brighter?. I unscrewed the lens from the tube and the tube was dirty but I couldn't tell if the lens was dirty. Everything just looked very white when I looked directly through the lens.
Should I clean the tube and lens or is that a no no.
OK update. I took the thing apart and found that there were 2 lenses together at the fron of the telescope and what looks like just the eye piece lens at the back. I cleaned the opaque off what was in between those 2 front lenses with alcohol and dabbed with tissue paper and now can see clearly. But I also forgot which order the lenses go in. So far it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Now what do I do with it?
I was kind of proud of myself for figuring out what was wrong with the telescope and fixing the problem. But after reading your comments I feel like the guy that poured beer in his aquarium and was proud of himself because his fish "could finally get a drink".
I must say though that when I was cleaning the lenses I did not notice any bluish tint on them, They just looked clear.
