i bought a basketball pump but its releasing air out my basketball?

Some do that when its not all the way in and some just do that all the time unless you are pumping. If you can't fill up your ball then return it and get a new one.
 
It's supposed to do that. Stick it farther in and just pump. The reason it does that is because when you stick the needle in you're breaking the seal, letting air out.
 
it depends what kind of pump it is
many pumps have a latch or this switch that u have to flip and start putting air into into it, once ure done flip the switch back and take the needle out soon because the air is being released
