collateral will i have to pay? I bonded somebody out but they did not appear and then the bond was forfeited. I did not put any collaterl and now he is threatening to sue for double. Will i have to pay? And what if he turns himself in before the court date? Will they drop the charges?

I have not seen your contract with the bondsman, but I have seen many other such contracts. Every one I have seen would have your personal guarantee and your agreement to indemnify the bondsman. If you signed such a contract and have now breached it, the bondsman can sue to enforce the contract.
