...healthy for my fish? I have a ten gallon tank with 8 fish in it. 2 Black mores, 3 Koi, 2 Gold Fantails, and 1 Calico Fantail. I have a filter, heater, gravel, castle with bubble maker, and just put in some plants to grow. I have had it for about a week and have already lost a fish. I am assuming to high ammonia levels after doing some research, so I purchased some tablets that take care of that. So I'm wondering how often I should do a water change and just other things like that.
Okay first of all...the three Koi are only going to be in my tank until April, because they are my roommates. Second of all, the plants are real. I know the fish are cold water fish and the only reason we have a heater is to keep it at a consistent temp of about 64 degrees. Next, I used Aquasafe when the tank was first set up to neutralize the tap water.
Then as a last side note we only intended to have five fish but when we went to get our final fish, the guy at the fish store gave us three free fish and we didn't know what to do with them.
