6 months ago my lovely 12 year old cat had a lump on his neck and he had a biopsy to which the vet told me he had cancer and there was nothing that could be done for him. The lump has grown very large in size now but he has no signs of illness at all. Last week he went missing for 4 days and we were so sad we cried and cried we thought he had gone to find a quiet place to rest forever. He much to my ultimate joy turned up home on sunday but some one had taken him to the vets with his lump and they had cut his neck again and done ANOTHER biopsy on him. I was really upset for him due to the fact he has already had one. I did some research and found out a local person had seen the lump and taken him to be seen. They took him to a local vet which just happened to be MY VET WHO HAD DONE THE FIRST BIOPSY!!!. My cat is microchipped and I believe that as a matter of course animals should be scanned before any medical procedure is carried out. I also believe the owner should be notified if their animal is brought in to a vets . Due to the vets lack of attention my cat has been through this surgery again for nothing. If they had of scanned him they would have been able to get his medical history. Also when they shaved his skin for surgery they would have seen a scar from 6 months ago from his previous operation. I believe at this point they should have questioned this. I feel that the vet has been very neglectful in this situation. They charged the caring person who took him in 150 pounds and I feel that they have let my little cat down very badly putting him through this again. I phoned the vet to complain but she was defensive and rude. I really need some help!!! If anybody can shine a light please do. Many regards Lori x
I am not complaining about the people who took him and I have refunded their money and I think they are very kind and caring people and will be my friends for life now. Also even though my cat has cancer he has no signs of illness and only left the house to get some fresh air . Just for the record I would never fail my cat I love him more than anything. By the way I understand this is the dog section but I listed by mistake and this is the first question I have ever submitted as I am a newcomer. I am only here to try to get some help.

This is not the cat section.

Some kind stranger found what they thought was a very sick stray cat and paid their own money out of the kindess of their heart to help your animal and you are complaining about the vet for helping this person?

Vets are not required by law to check for microchips and they were trying to help the cat and the person who found it. If you looked after your cat it wouldn't be roaming in the first place.

You should refund the money to the person who paid the vet.

Keep the sick cat inside the house so it can't roam and go missing for 4 days, then you won't have to sit around crying when it goes missing. You are very lucky it didn't get hit by a car.

Take proper care of your cat and be thankful someone cared enough about it to get it off the streets. You are the one who let your cat down. You are the one who is responsible for keeping it safe.

well idk about your currency i live in Arizona but i think its about 300 dollars. what i would do would b this: go back to your vet with the person who brought him in and insist they get their money back. if you cant get it back, say right in front of the vet to the other person "im sorry i cant get your money back but i am even more sorry that my vet is so unnatentful that you had to pay this extra money" and then if u can, pay some of the expenses.
