I am trying to use dreamweave with php and ms sql?

I am new to the php game and I have not found a way to use the combination of php and ms sql with dreamweaver. Is there a way I can use this combination with and add on program or if someone could start to point me around this issue. I want to use information from a spreadsheet on my website first of all. But there is a lot of stuff you can do server side and if I dont figure out a way around this with or without dreamweaver I am going to go crazy....thanks i advance for any help.

I guess I am just a newbie and am missing something. Can I use php with Mssql to produce the script. and put the script in dreamweaver. Guess I have a lot of reading to do and am looking for a starting spot. I understand the whole scenario and layout just not how to make it work and function.
 
I never run the scripts THROUGH Dreamweaver. I just use it for text editing and FTP. Then I run my scripts locally through the browser.
