i am trying to find a the name of a book that was recommended to me but i don't know...

...the name or author? i know that the book is about a boy and his life during the potato famine. it is a sad book and it could quite possibly have the word 'white' in the title referring to the flower that used to grow before the potato famine. even if someone knew the name of that flower it might help.

These are three books by Marita Conlon McKenna that are based on the famine: Under The Hawthorn Tree, Wildflower Girl, and Fields of Home. They're all very sad but excellent.

I know 'white' isn't in the title but they're the books that came into my mind when I read your question. Hope that helped =]
