I have no idea how to structure a book. how long do the chapters need to be, how many pages should the book have, how can i get interesting names for my characters? Help...????

You could make the chapters as long or as short as you want. Short could be as short as one page. Long could be as long as you want it to be. The pages. Well, the number of pages doesn't really matter because you'll only get that number when the book is formatted. That's up to the font, page size, line spacing, and borders, and all that stuff. What's important is the number of words. Novels usually have around or over 100,000 words. And the names, you could name them whatever you want. If your looking for irony, give someone the personality that's opposite of the meaning of their name. Or you could just pick a name that suits the personality of your character.

If you want to be an author, you need to start writing. Not now, but right now.

Get something on paper. Anything. Worry about all that stuff after. You can always EDIT, or have someone else EDIT it for you.

Remember that perfection is not always possible, and not all of your writings will be great.

If a book seems too daunting right now, try writing a short story. In a journal, get a list going of some story ideas, pick one, and start writing.

hii..!!

first of all, structuring a book is not as hard as you think it to be...start with a good note...and finish a chapter when you think it contains enough thrill and points which engross the reader to begin with the next chapter....or else...if they find it boring, then it's not worth writing, would it??
if you are a newbie writer, then, umm..300 pages or so..maybe 200 would be enough if it's engrossing enough...!!
and you can find interesting names for your protagonists from the net..regarding what kind of characters you have, if you think your character is sweet, use some name which you think is elegant enough to match ur character and same goes for the evil characters...see the name voldemort is soo mesmerising....never heard of such thing...have we? so have patience...you can choose the names according to your nationality too...see if you live in pakistan...use muslim names...if you live in india...use indian names...if you live in japan...use japanese names...so..that's how it works...
are you understanding the point....? hope that helps you out of your dilemma..!!

happy to help..:)

Simple answer to all your questions: However YOU want.

Got an idea? Write it down! The first step to creating a book is getting that great idea and making a commitment to finishing it. Brainstorm. I don't really know what you mean by book structure...sentence structure? Paragraph length? Sorry, not sure. Your chapters can be as long as you want or as short as you want. It all depends on the scene you are writing. One scene could be very important and be a page or two in length, while another scene or chapter could be very minor to the plot, yet ten pages...Twenty even! You page number should depend on the story. A Dr. Seuss book is, what? 10 pages? And The List by Robert Whitlow is 413. However long it takes for you to complete the five parts of a book:
Introduction
Rising Action
Conflict
Falling Action
Conclusion

-with great detail and easy sentence flow. Check Baby names websites for names. Describe your characters first. That may help in naming them. For instance, I personally wouldn't name my star football player Clarence or Harold because they don't seem to fit the part for me. Good luck.
