I want to become a cop when I am older and since i can not achieve that till 21 I want to do something in the meantime. I was wondering how good the law enforcement training in the navy is and how much it could help me in the future? please dont respond saying just ask a recruiter because i know they will just try to sell me, so dont be selfish just looking for your points serious answers only please.

recruiters are so swamped with recruits right now you actually can get the truth out of them, since they're turning so many people away

but yeah, being an MP would definitely help your ambitions to be in law enforcement later. its the same thing except military

I have to comment about your statement about recruiters: The majority of the recruiters are Senior NCO's and officers. They are professionals and have high standards when it comes to performing their assigned duties. If i wanted a good answer to a question , i would ask the recruiters not someone who doesn't know. Best of luck to you and thanks for wanting to serve our great country.

If I remember correctly the Navy's MPs are Marines, but if you want to go into law enforcement, any military will help, and military policing would be big step up.

Master At Arms is the Rating for law enforcement in the military. Just because you do in the military doesn't mean you will immediately go into that field when you get out. Often they will not allow it and you will need a degree in Criminal/Justice Field. Right now though the MA Rating in the Navy is becoming overmanned so you will have a hard time getting advanced in the future.
