I am thinking about buying a Toyota Celica (approx 2001 age) - good or bad

experiences with them? Just wondered if anyone has got one or has had one and if they would recommend them as a good, reliable car (and also very pretty lol).

Many thanks :-)

Celicas are always good cars. They have the 99.999% unlikeliness of ever breaking down. They have a superb safety record. What more could you want?
Celicas are great cars to start off with, or just carry on with. They're big enough for the shopping, powerful enough to beat almost an Impreza, a crash test reveals that they are safe, too! Each Toyota Celica starts off with roughly 187BHP and if it is kept well then it should stay above 159BHP.
It's a cool car, not to mention the headlights which are amazing. I have had 2 Celicas, One is the flip-up headlamp special edition (I didn't use it much but it was fantastic but it did cost a fortune because it was a special edition) and now I have the 2007 GT. I have rented the Millenium Edition, proboably the car you want to buy? And that's powerful, aerodynamic and will impress. They are excellent and I know this.
The downside is that Celicas have body-kits that tend to fall off. This happens rarely, but it is the same case with most of them - at some point it may fall off. That's only a story I've heard, it's never happened to me.
Good Luck!!

They are a decent car. unless you get the 6 cycl they are pretty underpowered though. being FWD is a bit of a minus with the nice body style. not 100% about '01 specifically but they have troubke getting up some hoist's. they DO come in a 6cyl, AWD, manual i've heard. that would be sweet :P

I had one for nearly 10 years - pretty purple colour and it never gave me any trouble - every morning started a dream, went everywhere - was fantastic! Sold it about 12 months ago with 50,000 genuine miles on the clock and still get emails from the lady who bought it and loves it. Changed it for an Audi but in some ways I would go back to it!
