...told me Nikon 20mm lenses ? Are way better than the Canon 20mm, is he telling me the truth or he is talking BS?
 
well from what ive heard nikon and canon are both very good brands, idk about nikon being "way" better. i dont think you could go wrong with either.
 
I don't know. I do know that a number of my colleagues have used the Nikkor 20 mm lens for years when shooting architectural subjects using a 35 mm SLR.

Now the hot ticket seems to be the Nikon 14 mm f/2.8 attached to a 35 mm like a F5 or F6 or the full frame D3

That is if you are not shooting using a 4x5 view camera with either a 65 mm or 90 mm lens
