jointly or separately? I got married in July 2010. I am currently enrolling in college and I am now filling out my W- 2's so I then can fill out my fafsa. This will be my first year of school and I have been told I would be better of filing my W-2's as married separately, rather than married jointly, on my tax returns because this will allow me greater eligibility for grants. I am wondering if this is true and if it is worth it. I made about 34000 last year and the wife is around 23000. She has school loans she recently started paying back if this helps any.
