I am planting a fall vegetable garden in CA.?

So my question is, what can I plant, and what will really grow, the space is in sun for the majority of the day until 5 and for fall that's when the sun goes down. I have been cleaning up the space, it is a fairly large space (the size of most peoples back yards in california anyways) So I was thinking a couple of different things. I irrigated the the spot last night, it had not had water in quiet awhile, (the ground was to hard to rototill or turn over without a tractor).
The ground is being fertilized with cow manure.

SO WHAT DOES A CALIFORNIAN PLANT FOR AUTUMN?
