I am planning on going into Photography next year.?

I will move from what I am studying now to photography, but I want to know if I work for National Geographic, will they pay well ??
 
I'm sure they will, but the chances of you or anyone else actually getting there is slim...it'd take years of working and experience before you ever had a shot. I'm not even sure NG keeps a large staff now anyway, most mags now are using freelance work.
 
Like a lot of the arts, photography is a broad-based pyramid -- lots of people at the bottom just scraping by; a few at the top making good money. In terms of education, few schools prepare you for a career in the real world -- Brooks and RIT come to mind. Best bet: become an assistant to a successful photographer and learn how it's really done.
