I am NC40 in MAC foundations. What shade should I get if I want MAC Studio

Sculpt foundation? Today I had on the MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in NC40 and paired it with the MSF Natural in Medium Dark; however, the combined color seemed to be a bit dark on me. Should I go down a number on the foundation or is the MSF Natural in Medium Dark a bit dark for me? Thanks in advance for your reply.
