We just discovered our contractor taking more money than they should have been. We called our insurance company and now have to meet with our contractor. Should we bring a lawyer to this face to face meeting, or should we ask our insurance company to deal with the meeting, bring us back their version of what they did and what they think they are owed. Or should we go to the meeting, with a thrid party, even though they have insulted us and are mad at us for finding all this money they were trying to "steal" from us.

Lawyers are very very expensive.

If your insurance company is willing to get involved, get yourself and the contractor to sit down with the insurance company. Try to stay emotional uninvolved and mentally sharp. Just the facts, sir. Good luck!

Without knowing all the facts I would say you need to try and clear up things with the contractor before involving a lawyer. I don't think your insurance company would be involved unless this contractor is doing a job to be paid for by them. You haven't provided much of the story. Did they try to "pad" the estimate or what?
