I have heard that the transmission is one thing, but what else can I be expecting to fixing. And if anyone has one around these years, how is it running still?
I have over 304,000 miles on my 1991 Jeep Cherokee. The common repair points are the water pump and radiator. You will probably need to replace U joints and front wheel bearings as well.
Pretty much everything dealing with the drive train and suspension is up for grabs. Shocks, brakes, springs, drive train, tranny, clutch, gear boxes, engine, exhaust. Depends on how many miles, how bad previous owners abused it. Get a mechanic you trust to give if a good inspection. Good Luck.
