i am looking to buy a jeep wrangler. i have some questions.?

Hello

New member
well i am looking to buy a jeep. i am only 16 so i wont have the money right away but i have some questions.
first wrangler vs wrangler unlimited. I like the unlimited because there is more room for cargo, and thats about it. I noticed in the wrangler, there is basically no space behind the second row. Is there any other difference between wrangler and unlimited besides size?
Second question, 4x4 or 4x2. I live in the northeast, so the winters can be bad. So does this mean i should go with the 4x4 (for the snow)? Also, can it be engaged/disengaged? I dont plan on doing much, if any, off roading though.
Third question. When i "build my own jeep" on jeep.com, and i select the dual top option, which gives you the option to use a soft top or hard top, it requires that the exterior color be black, and the seats a specific color. Why is that? Also, is there a different mounting system etc. with the dual top group to allow both the soft and hard tops?
Fourth question. What are some advantages and disadvantages of the soft top vs the hard top. take into consideration the winter time, dealing with the cold, and the summer.

Thats all i can think of now. But can anybody offer any tips or hints or things to think about or things to know. Thank you

P.S. I am looking at the 2009 models.

1. The only difference between the Wrangler & the Wrangler Unlimited is the second row (on the Unlimited) having doors. There is the same amount of space behind both trims' second rows.

2. If I lived in heavy snow, yes, I would get 4x4. Even though it is a JEEP, it still can succumb to snow if the snow is bad enough....and the one time it starts to succumb, you'll be glad you have 4x4. The 4x4 can be engaged/disengaged as needed.

3. I have no idea why Jeep did this. It probably can be changed aftermarket, though.

4. The soft top can be taken with you in case it starts to snow/rain. However, it provides very poor break-in security. It's also thinner than the hard top, which is harder on the AC/heat due to less insulation. The back windows start to turn yellow & foggy eventually, too.
The hard top provides excellent break-in security. It is also well-insulated, so the AC/heat will have to work less hard. However, once the top is off, it has to stay put because it's too big to take w/ you.

Hope this helps!
