I have a cousin that had a pity party because her husband dumped her. And because of this pity party she sought mental help in hopes to get some TLC because she was not getting it from her family. She, as far as I am concern DOESN'T HAVE a mental illness, (depression) or anything else but was just trying to get some TLC.
This was a one time thing. She rarely cries and doesn't cry without reason, and we don't have any mental illness in our family, even to the third and fourth generation and beyond.
I say it is wrong to permanently LABEL someone (that I believed was misdiagnosed) with depression, just because she went to a mental hospital for help in her circumstances. And I believe psych doctors and nurses are over anxious to label someone mentally ill just because they walked into their clinic.
What do you know about depression? Is it a on going thing that occurs all their life? And is it a mental illness to be sad about something that would normally effect everyone? I think if this is so, then everyone could be labeled that, so we are all mentally ill.
I think it is silly to put all people in one category just because they visited a mental hospital.
What is with these doctors who diagnose people with mental illness? Are they afraid people will sue them if they aren't diagnosed mentally ill because they would not get the care that they could have gotten if they were? So its safer for them to diagnose them mentally ill, then not?
Every person that walks into a mental facility gets automatically labeled this. This keeps these doctors in business! Its wrong!
What do you think about this and if you have had similar experience under these circumstances?
