I am Legend

Not having a go at you (you seem to be a sensible person), but this reminded me of an episode of the Alan Partridge radio show from years ago (before he started on the TV). One of Alan's guests was a precocious young genius boy. At one point in the interview Alan says "that's very true" and the genius kid says "It's incorrect to say "very true". There is no gradation of truth. Something is either true or it is not!". To which Alan replies "Oh, of course you're right.... you're very right." Excellent :).

I remember someone (Stephen Fry maybe) saying that language is a living thing in that it changes all the time. So long as we understand each other it's all fine.
 
Anybody else find it strange that the discovery of a cancer cure was right down the news report after tipping for the baseball?

I thought it was a good film, and not having read the book, I can't criticise the choice of ending. (If I had read the book, I would complain loudly; it's a hobby of mine nit-picking book-movie conversions!)

Little Willow Smith is as cute as a button, and not a horrible grating brat as most child actors are. Her on-screen parents seem to disagree, they seemed to be telling her to shut up half the time.

I have said on another thread how jarring the CGI is; the humans simply aren't, they are like something out of Lord of the Rings. Orks or something. Having this disease, which was described as 'rabies like' gives them uber-strength, acrobatic ability, resistance to injury, lightning speed and gave them all huge muscles. Perhaps with Arnie as the lead they would have looked relatively less grotesque.
 
well I really enjoyed the film! If it didnt have Will Smith in it I dont think I would have enjoyed it as much tho! He is very good in this film!

To be honest, with all films you can poke holes in it, in terms of realism.
You can be really picky and ask how he manged to make such a well defensed house, where did he get the equipment from and everything. How did he create his lab???

But if you just take it for what it is I really enjoyed it.
 
I thought it was really good:)

The only problems I had with it were:

1) I'm no scientist, but wouldn't such a radical new drug be tested over a long period of time for say, 10 years to see the long-term effects?

2) The Infected became a bit too ridiculously supernatural towarRAB the end- the aggessiveness and social de-evolution I can understand, it seems almost feasible, but super-strength?
 
In the alternative ending that is apparantely what happens, the monster person sees the girl whose been healed, and they just take the girl and leave Will Smith!
 
It's just been rated 15 in the UK by the BBFC, despite being a PG-13 in the US. I'm not complaining though, at least there will be less kiRAB in the cinema :D
 
I think you'll find that PG-13 is the same as the 12A over here. 15 is the same as an R rating (with the 18 certificate being applied to stronger R's). It's just that in some circumstances the BBFC seem harder on violence (the same happened with Die Hard 4.0).
 
Her feeling wasnt the geographical location of the safe haven. There was rumour there was a safe haven in that particular location, nothing was confirmed as to whether it was actually there. Her feeling was that it existed.

This is perfectly acceptable as people do have "feelings" and in a situation like that, survivors I fully expect to have such feelings of hope.

As for the film on the whole I enjoyed it, it was a lot better than 28 weeks later which was complete trash (mainly because of Robert Carlise the super zombie). 28 days later was better but I think thats because it beat I am Legend to it in modern film.

The CGI infected spoilt it a bit for me, they should have been more human looking and Im not entirely convinced about the trap.

The title of the film didnt really fit with the film as the changes from the book totally diverted from the reason the book was of this title.

2 endings were actually filmed for this movie, the original ending recieved bad feedback from test audiences and so was changed to the current one.
