I thought the same thing. I originally thought it was the afflicted humans developing or recovering some sense of intelligence and logical thought, but it also could have been a trap Neville set. I tend to think it was the 'zombies' though, as Neville probably wouldn't have tried to lure them with a mannequin.



Again, I noticed this also. I expected it would be explained through the course of the flashbacks but it never was.



At first I wondered the same thing, but wasn't this explained? I seem to remember that he was using the animals to lure the afflicted humans into his traps, so that he could test the compounRAB on human subjects.
 
This will be the third attempt at filming I Am Legend. No one's really got it 100% right yet and I doubt Will Smith will fare any better than Vincent Price or Charlton Heston.:(
 
Watched it earlier and found it slow in the beginning. Too many long shots of Will Smith wandering around. Some good shots of overgrown NT. Much preferred 28 days.

Haven't read the book so have no idea what the ending was compared to the film (I won't post it, don't want to spoil if you're off to see it).
 
Did he have a generator? Or was the electricity still running - hard to believe after 3 years that the power was still on for him to watch Shrek!
 
I watched it the other night. I was just underwhelmed by it. It seemed so lazily done. Will Smith was fine, but nothing really happened of any excitement.
 
I can't remember which thread it was, but I was moaning about Will Smith and I said that I had been put off watching I Robot because he starred in it - and someone (quite rightly) said I should watch it before judging. :o

Anyway. I just watched it, and I was well impressed. He was great in it, and it's a good story.

Sorry to put this post in this thread, but it's kind of relevant.
 
I enjoyed the film. Will Smith, as a dramatic actor, carried it off very well. The set pieces were very well crafted.

It did have it's flaws however, and I was wishing there weren't any zombies at all in it.

Oh the poor dog! I was most distraught!
 
"Got" is the past form of get.

"Gotten" is the past participle.

It's correct to use it after "had".

Interesting that TheFirstCut has "Proud European" as their location and yet seems to assume that everyone on this forum is from Britain ("We use the word "got"").

Also, to pick someone up on the use of a word and then get a word wrong in your own sentence serves to highlight how ridiculous your nitpicking is.



The word in the sentence above should be "too".

Aside from this diversion, I saw I Am Legend and while it wasn't brilliant, it was an enjoyable enough movie with enough tension and scary moments to compensate for the fairly weak cgi and disappointing finish.
 
Hollywood's I, Robot suck ass. Its was so far off from Asimov's work. I mean jeez the twilight zone and the outer limits did a better job and they don't have the budget that Will Smith got for his movie.
 
As you say, it was certainly signified that the alpha male copied Neville’s trap. Neville says that decreased brain function or lack of food is making them go against their basic instincts of survival and that ‘social de-evolution’ is complete. This was somewhat against the alpha male tracking down the female, which was heavily hinted at, especially towarRAB the end. It was almost as if Neville hadn't quite twigged yet. I think I would’ve liked to have seen this develop a bit more. That said, I’ve not read the book so perhaps somehon who has can shed some light.

Eitherway, it was an interesting and entertaining film. I was surprised to see that it only had a running time of 90mins and felt that more time could’ve been given to the back-story. Excellent cinematography in parts, dodgy lazy CGI in others and a great performance by Smith. It was, however, most random seeing Emma Thomson pop up at the start.

I guess he was stalking them for something to do, try to keep sanity, or for food. Theres a lot of Zoo's in New York.
 
Oh and about the trap, maybe Neville set the trap himself and just forgot about it, he was going mad. The blood from his head would suggest why the infected were waiting for him?

then again why would he ever set up a trap and leave it... I think that it is intended for the audience to think that the alpha male set the trap, copying it from Nevilles previous trap. Its possible Neveille was wrong when he said something about the infected losing all intelligence? But im not sure of his exact worRAB on that.
