Compare, for example, the timespans involved. The gestation period in Alien is about 5 days before bursting out of Kane. Then chestburster grows into a xenomorph warrior in at least a week. In AVP, the entire process seems to happen in the space of, maybe a day, tops. It's just silly.
 
Thank goodness they have sorted out the Predator's thermal vision in this new film. It's back to how it should look.

I swear, ignorant directors like Paul W. Anderson need to seriously do extensive study on what "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" actually means. :rolleyes:

Ridley Scott said it best, when asked about what he thought of AVP.

Its doing great at the usa box office....its looking likely to be the biggest grossing film in the month of december EVER.

Where in my post does it say that they did? Im simply stating the box office facts and saying how much I'M looking forward to seeing it!!
 
Until AVP-R comes out that is. It's released Christmas day in the US. I don't doubt for a millisecond that it will do infinitely better business then I am Legend. ;)

I've seen I am Legend. It could have been good. Unfortunately it's bogged down terribly by a really lousy script that is the one thing a good script should never be... it's dumbed down for your average airhead audience viewer.

I'm seeing AVP-R next week. Will it be what it's being billed as? The closest thing you will ever get to a real sequel to Aliens? Not if its anything like the dreadful AVP, that's for sure.
 
Riiiiight.... Okay. I guess there we differ. It felt like having a movie where a baby became an adult in 5 years. It simply didn't make sense. In any fantasy/sci fi setting - artsy, action or otherwise - for it to work you have to stick to your own rules of how the "universe" you've set up works. Suspension of disbelief and all that. Anderson simply didn't care enough about the product to bother, it seems.I'd argue that Alien 3, whilst imperfect, worked way more than AVP did.
 
calm down, no need to go on the defensive, im just saying that when a big film does well at box office it is not a refelection that everyone liked it, just that they were intrigued enough to go and see it from the trailer or liking the lead actor of a role.
 
Alien is an artistic Masterpiece.

H.R. Giger snapped his fingers and all thouse fantastic designs just appeared.... Wow! Some trick. :rolleyes:

Heck, the scene where the space jockey is first revealed on the planet is better then the entire duration of AVP.
 
A lot of people like it and a lot of people dislike it on the imdb boarRAB, there have been comments saying the ending is good and faithful to the book too.

Im looking forward to it, a lot more than AVP2 too, that film is pretty much guranteed to be rubbish.
 
Except for AVP-R is directed by Colin Strause and Greg Strause who have attended many Comic-Con conventions in the past as massive Alien fans themselves, which is definitely a good sign. No Paul W.S. Anderson in sight this time, thank goodness. When it all comes down to it, this could mean AVP-R enRAB up being the third best Alien related film. Then again, it could be the car wreck that Alien 3 was. Until I see it, I can't comment.
