I Am Legend: Invasion of the Point Missers.

I see its a 15 certificate.
My 12 year old is not chuffed at all.
The bbfc are old fogies :(

It is a PG 13 in the US which is just a PG with a sterner warning. That seems much more like it.

watched this film today, though not as bad as people would make you think it is,was just ok,especially when it had the potential to be a classic.it just seemed to lose its way halfway through the film, and then rushed through to the end witout explaining certain things or coming to an exciting conclusion, the ending was definitely a let down. will smith was excellent in his role though, carrying on from the pursuit of happyness.

^^ I agree. I think Will Smith has a reputation for duff movies now. I robot was a waste of time, Wild Wild West was lousy. I know some people who loved Men in Black, but I thought it was really naff and pointless, then there's Independence Day ..... I'd say his name is not really a sign of quality, more a sign of product placement, plot gaps, overused CGI etc. It makes me shudder to say I'd rather take my chances with a Jude Law film  :p

He should stick to things he's good at, like talking about Hitler :p:D:D;)

Saw this yesterday. Very poor IMO. Such a wasted opportunity when you consider the source material but it's making big bucks so all concened will be pleased! So glad I didn't pay for having to sit through it;)

Hitch, MiB, I, Robot, The Pursuit of Happyness, Independence Day, Made In America, Shark Tale, Enemy of the State, Bad Boys, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Ali......

All enjoyable films......the box office numbers says it all really...

chicken
"glad I didn't pay for having to sit through it"
you an your lil chav gang banged in the exit doors then

if you didnt pay an a scum runner I dont think you should comment here ,as we watched this dire dreadfulness ......when a Dog out performs retire

Positive. There's enough misspelt plagiarism on the net without me adding to it. The"point missers" bit may a steal, but if it is I don't recall from where.

I didn't pay either. Myahahahahahah!

All (of those I've endured) vacuous and forgettable. All containing Will Smith. What could the connection possibly be? Like those of Robin Williams, his movies are becoming something to dread, which is a shame because when his smarm setting is turned down, he's a perfectly good actor.
This crowd pleasing stuff, undeniably profitable, doesn't do him any favours. though I doubt he loses much sleep over it.:)
He had a chance to do something memorable with I Am Legend and went for the easy option: spectacular and noisy but bland, undemanding and ultimately disappointing.

It matters only in that it bears very little resemblance to the book, and yet still carries the book's name. I quite liked the film fpr what it was, but it has no right to be calling itself 'I am Legend'.

I've just returned from seeing it at our local cinema. The verdict...

Well, allowing for the loud hum on the soundtrack (which has also accompanied the previous 2 films I saw at this cinema), the first half, up to where
he has to kill his dog
- was good, very promising; great themes of impermanence, death, loss, loneliness, suffering, the whole human condition thing, etc.
Then, intermission with a nice ice cream.
Then the second half, and... OH DEAR. The films goes completely off the rails and totally destroys the themes it built up so well in the first half, and in the process (as the OP pointed out) completely misses the point of the book and opts instead for a meaningless happy ending. Why oh why is Hollywood so afraid of confronting the darker issues of life? Do they think the audience wouldn't want to see a story with a downbeat ending? If the purpose of this film is to be mindless entertainment then why on earth did they start with themes of death and loneliness and loss? Why didn't they make a comedy instead? In the second half the theme of loneliness was dealt with instead by Shrek, playing on the DVD in the background.

For anyone who hasn't read the book, the meaning of the title is that
the vampires become the reality and the human beings become the legend of the past.

Follow ironjade's advice:

P.S. Nice to see that Hollywood has stuck to the tradition of casting a British person as the bad guy (or woman in this case) - the whole human race could only have been destroyed by an English scientist!
