I am interested in web design, and was debating whether or not college is worth it/necessary. Not keeping any of the social aspects of college in mind, is it worth it to go to college for web design. I feel like web design is one of those majors where you can learn the material through self study. Would I be able to get hired simply by having a portfolio of websites that I have created or is a college degree a prerequisite? What would be the best method to get hired as a web designer not taking the college route? Also, what other skills are valuable for a web designer to have to make your resume look more appealing?
