I am interested in the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class. But I have a question...

...about standardized test req's? So I searched Marine PLC on google, and the first thing that came up was an article on about.com. I read through the requirements and the explanation of how PLC works, but then I got stumped on the standardized test required scores. Since the new SAT came out in 2005 there is now three parts of the SAT instead if the older version that only had two math and verbal section. The best score ten years ago was a 1600, now it is 2400 since they added the writing section which is worth up to 800 points just like the other parts of the test. Here is what it said on about.com below.

"Must have a combined score of at least 1000 on the verbal or math sections of the SAT, or a combined score of 45 on the verbal and math section of the ACT, or a minimum score of 120 (waiverable to 115) on the Marine Corps "GT" Composite Score of the ASVAB."

My question is if you can only get up to 800 points per test and there are three tests then how can you get at least a thousand on the verbal OR math sections? Is this just a typo or does the writer mean that you have to get a combined score on the verbal and math sections of at least a thousand?
