I am interested in contacting the media (news) about a possible story. How do I go...

1st of All if you are in Canada you should contact CBC/RDI they have a program on reality stuffs etc. Call the appropriate department and tell them to redirect you to the direction of the show they air about real life issues etc... and tell them your plans. If you think your story makes money go for it now!

if you are in the US, call FOX/CBS/CNN/ABC/CNBC they have a LOT of shows about real life stories!

Good luck!

Start with your local news or if it is bigger email a larger org. and DONT tell the story in that first email. Communicate to make sure it is the best outlet for your best interest

you could write to your local newspaper
you could call your local newspaper
you could email your local newspaper
you could visit your local newspapers website
you could also do the following to your local news

"idiot kid" gives a great start. I would add that you should concentrate on your local media outlets first: television, radio, newspaper. Contact the news editors and/or individual reporters directly by phone/email and see if they're interested.

go to google and type in the news channel you want to contact. find the page about the news station or newspaper and search the site for a contact button. good luck.

Where I live they have a community correspondent page where viewers can report stories. Check out your local network news website to see if they have something similar.
