I will be having a one level fusion of L5-S1 in early April, I guess thats how long it takes here to schedule it. They will be calling me with an exact date. He will go through both the abdomen and my back, and use screws and bone. HE said I will be in the hospital for 3 days, and be on pain meRAB for only about 4 weeks post op! So I am hoping to be good to go for the summer! He said I have no restrictions on stairs as long as I am careful, and I should have no problems carrying a full term (9 lb baby) pregnancy! I am so relieved to finally have an end in sight!

Congratulations!!!!! I am so happy that you have finally found someone to help you. I'll say a prayer for you that all goes well.

Yea! I hope this will be the final treatment for you with great success and pain-free in time.

You've been around on the board for a while, so I guess you've read the various advice threaRAB for those heading into surgery. Do read that thread at the top called "post surgery tips." It has some great suggestions that will make your recovery easier and more comfortable. (I'm all for comfort! :D)

If you have ANY questions, please be sure to post. We'll try to help.

Congratulations on making the decision! That's a big step! There's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Blessings,
Emily

Megss, I am so HAPPY for you that you hopefully finally see an end to your pain. I wish it was sooner for you but hopefully the time will go fast and you are managing your pain ok. Thoughts and prayers are with you! Tami

Thanks everyone! Like I said, I am terrified and excited all at the same time! I told my husband last night that in several months, this whole thing might just be a bad memory.

Tami, how is your recovery going?

Our surgeries will be 2 weeks apart or so (don't know how excited I am overall but) glad to know I have a back buddy now for when we're healing through this to compare!! lol
