insurance is gonna be through the roof...
especially because of the fact that you are a beginner starting off on a supersport 600cc crotch rocket. good luck with payin the insurance.

Insurance quotes will vary from company to company. Nobody on here will be able to give you anything but a wide ballpark figure on that. Way too many variables involved.

Now, that aside...

You're about to make a huge mistake. You're saying, in essence, "I'm a new driver, I'm going to go out and get a Corvette as my first car". Although there will always be differing opinion on this, it is my strong opinion that buying a supersport 600cc motorcycle as your first bike is asking for trouble. I'm going to assume you have no motorcycle experience (if that's not true, please say). You need to hone your skills on a lesser bike first, then move up to the CBR. If you have no experience whatsoever and choose to hit the open road on this bike, you're only upping your chances for an accident.

Above all, take the MSF class and find out if motorcycling is for you FIRST. You'd be surprised to find out how many folks drop motorcycling after they take the class.

Regardless of what bike you choose, go pick up "Motorcycle Maintenance for Dummies". Don't let the title fool you, it's a great read and will show you all of the maintenance skills you need to learn on your own, which you can do without much mechanical know-how.

Tires? Hard to say, as it all depends on your riding style, the actual tires chosen, etc. The above estimates of 6-8,000 miles should be in the ballpark.

Good luck, I hope you reconsider your choice. If you do not, however, I hope you're sensible and ride as defensively as possible.

The #1 rule is "This will not kill you, it will let you do it"
It can run 150 MPH, it does not hae to
Do you have a clean driving record. Look on ht e web.
Check tire pressure often, the contac patch is smaller than your palm,Oil changes at recomended intervals, oil chain occasionally.
An average rear tire will last about 8000 miles unless you learn to do burnouts, use the standard tire traed rules
Have you taken the MSC?

Insurance could run you $600-$800. Tire would run out every 6-7k miles. Oil change is cheap if you do it yourself. I use synthetic oil on mine and filter and oil cost more no more than $20.00. As a beginner rider I would not recommend you get a new 600 RR. Its yours first bike, lets not make it your last bike.
