I am going to Africa for a month. Not sure what size backpack I need. Any ideas?

I am heading to Tanzania and Zanzibar for a month. We will be spending 6 days on a camping safari too. Mainly staying in hostels and small little resorts. I need to have only one bag if possible. Not sure what size I need. If anyone out there has a size suggestion it would be very much appreciated.
