As you can see by my queston i am getting a fish. I think i am geting a comet fish. I need a few tips on how to look afer a fish and also how to go about my kitten. My kitten has never seen a fish and i think he might get a bit weird and scared and he will wont to find out more about the fish.....and probably try to kill it too. haha. anyway give me a few tips on how to look after a fish with a kitten around. Fish cant be that hard to look after.....CAN THEY!!!

Thank you

Comet goldfish aren't so easy as you think. They need at least a 50 gallon tank(they grow 12 inches long) and require a very good working filter. So a bowl is certainly not an option. If you don't have room for this size tank too bad don't get a fish if you con't take care of it right.

The tank should have a lid so the kitten wouldn't be much of a problem unless he wants to go swimming.

same here. Well if you leave, youll want to put him in a SEPERATE room. dont put the fish up high or hide him, assuming the cat cant get there 'cause they can. never underestimate a cat. My cats were fascinated by my fish. We think they scared him to death. he only lived 2 years. keep them in seperate rooms. id suggest fish in the living room and cat keep in the kitchen when your gone.

Just make sure you get a tank that your cat get his paw into. My dad's cat used to scoop the fish right out of the tank from a space by the filter.

the kitten will just see the fish, probably watch it swim around for a while, but because he is a kitten, he will grow up with a fish so it won't be that bad. If the cat was a year old, then maybe it might be a problem.

Get a fish that is for your cat to eat first and when it eats that fish give the cat a good beating so it learns its lesson

not probably, he will try and eat it!... hahaha, buy two fish and let him eat one, it's so fun watching nature unfolding, my cat has exceptionally long paws, we USED to have fish at my old house.

It's like watching a tiger in action, it doesn't get better.

A little butter, skillet, high heat ought to take care of the fish (a little pepper and salt ought to help). As for the cat, a little meow mix, water and a safe place, ought to be just fine.
