I am considering purchasing a Ford Escort van,1800 turbo engine.Are there disadvantages

to a none turbo? Its a diesel engine.I have never before owned a vehicle that has a turbo engine.The quick pick up speed of a turbo engine has advantages,but in back of my mind,as someone who is not up to date with all aspects of cars,i am wondering what are the disadvantages.Would be grateful for information on this matter.
 
turbos are reliable as long as you take care of them

change the oil religiously and let them cool down after heavy use, and they should last well
