I am looking at buying a house short sale in Miami-Dade county, but the property taxes would be a deal killer. The short sale is listed at $650,000 but the taxes are based on a value of $840,000. Does the fact that I would purchase the house for $650k mean that I can easily get the assessed value changed with the county, or am I stuck paying taxes based on what it is actually worth? It would make about a $1,000 difference in my monthly payment.
