I am building a tactor that will pull at least 500lbs without hesitation

out of a 18.5 hp. craftsman.? This is a do it yourself project I really need the hp to pull at least 500lbs without hesitation I was told by the mechanic that rebuilds my fathers motors on his pulling tractor that it could be done but I don't want to pay my fathers mechanic to do it because he charges to much .I want to do it myself . I just want to know a simple way to get more hp then if I need more help than youall can help me with I will ask my fathers mechanic for help.
