I am building a flying contraption and need some scientific help.p?

Ok, so I have a mini turbine jet engine that produces 300 pounds of thrust with an afterburner that produces a 5 foot long tail fire. I was originally planning for an airplane but then i was thinking why not harry potter style. A flying broom. Basically I AM GOING TO BUY AN EXACT replica of a firebolt, keep everything but the hairs coming out of the end and replace it with the jet engine. do i need wings? i will be dropped out of an airplane and i will then fire the jets.
