I am angry beyond words!!! What are the chances of me getting sick?

My aunt dragged her sick kid over to my house today (with a chunky cough, sneezing, runny nose, phlegm, etc.), fully knowing that she was sick. You see, my aunt is the most selfish person I know; she denies that her daughter is sick because she knows that no one wants to be around a sick kid and risk getting sick themselves. BUT because she's so selfish, she doesn't let that interfere with her good time, and she drags her daughter with her everywhere, anyway.

Now this is what I'm irritated about (as if that wasn't enough): My mother told them last night to not come over because she could hear that the little kid was still sick in the background (over the phone), but my aunt unexpectedly stopped by today ANYWAY when she knew that JUST I was home... and when she was at the door, she had already taken all of her food, toys, diaper bags, etc. out of the car so there was no way I'd just say "hey, you have to leave" after seeing that she had already brought everything out. She came in and was like, "Give your cousin a hug" and my cousin was hanging all over me and hugging me and trying to play games, draw, and put together puzzles. She coughed twice, right in my face, and I tried not to breathe, but I'm sure there's no way to avoid that.

I was on a VERY high dose of Prednisone about a month ago, which I know lowers your immune system drastically. I'm currently sick with a sinus infection too, doing my nebulizer because my asthma is so out of control, taking inhailed steroids, as well as antibiotics (which no longer work because I've become resistant to them due to so many sinus infections). In 3 days I'm having Botox injected into my neck, shoulders, and around my shoulder blades to give some relief to my muscles after an injury I had a few years back.

I CANNOT AFFORD TO GET SICK! I've already had to cancel once because of a virus (that I caught from the same kid, I believe) that gave me a rash everywhere, sore throat, headache, you name it!

So my question in all of this? How likely do you think it is that I'll get sick before Tuesday? I hope you can help me with this! THANK YOU!!!!!! :)

Go to Walgreens or Walmart if you have one and get this stuff called Airborne. Take it how it says on the bottle and it should help you not to get sick. Get it ASAP though or it may not work as well. It will be somewhere around the cold medicines. You mix it with water and drink it. It is not the best tasting thing in the world but its not like cough syrup or anything.

I know how you feel but in a different way. My hubby's cousin's kid keeps lice all the time and she called today and told me her daughter was bored and asked if my daughter could either come over to her house or her daughter come here. I told her my kids were going to their mamaw's house to spend the night!! I lied!! I know its wrong but she keeps lice and I dont want it!!! So I advoid her at all costs and she has never taken the hint. She aggervates the crap out of me!! Anyway, I dont blame you for being pissed about it, I get pissed when she shows up at my house unannounced. I freak out!!!
I hope the airborne helps!!

That stuff is junk. I work for a pharmacist and he has told me that stuff is junk. He said you're better off taking a little extra vitamin C and E. Also, he said if you can get your hands on some Emergen-C, that stuff works really well, too.

But Airborne and zinc lozenges in Cold-Eeze, as well as Zicam, he said, are all junk. He has been a pharmacist for over 30 years, he knows his stuff.

well, excuse me... I was just trying to help, I didn't know it was "junk". I use it sometimes and it does fine for me but whatever floats your boat I guess.

I have no idea how likely it is that you will get sick, though I would have thought it would be a good idea to dose yourself up with loads of Vit C, zinc, echinacea etc, just in case.
As far as the rest of your story goes, my personal opinion is that you should have done exactly what you said you couldn't do - ie say "No, you have to take the child home again". If you have a compromised immune system for any reason, everyone should be notified that they absolutely cannot come to visit if they are suffering from any kind of contagious or infectious illness. Even if this woman insists on denying that the child is ill, her symptoms prove her wrong and she should be told in no uncertain terms that it is up to you who enters your house.
I hope you don't come down with anything.
