join Regular Force or Reserve? I have looked into both on the government sites, spoken with ex soldiers from both forces and I wonder: On one hand, I can feel secure and at the same time serve my country at home in the reserves, but I will receive less pay and less benefits than regular force. On the other hand, the possibility of deployment, particularly in the Middle East, while fine by me does not seem to be the smartest choice at the moment, seeing as how its such a mess. Are there any soldiers or veterans here who could offer me info based on experience?

Stay with the reserves until you are done your schooling. Our military gives you grants while you are in school, not to mention you have work during the summer breaks on call-outs. Our oldest stayed with the reserves while finishing both high school and then business college, plenty of incentives and in the reserves, any call-outs or deployments are within Canada unless you ask for other places. Looks great on a resume after school as well. Thank you, by the way.
