hello

I stopped to grow in height when i was about 15-16 years old  . Now i am 19 and 5'6''... Do i have any chance to grow taller? My father is 5'10'' my mom in 5'7'' and my little bro is 5'10''... as you see i am the shortest in the family. I am from Europe.

Thank You

I hate to say this probably not. I'm the same way, shortest in my family. Both my brothers are 5-10 to 5-11 and I'm only 5-6. Some us get short changed.

There is nothing wrong with being short but for some reason society has made it out that being tall is an advantage for practically everything.

Ever noticed when a talking to a group of people where the subject of kids or grand-kids and the first thing that comes out of most peoples mouth is, "well look how tall junior has grown" or he is going to be a lot taller than so and so, like they are special because they are going to be tall.

Nobody brags on their kids about being short.

My son was very tiny and was considered a failure to thrive baby. The doctors took an xray of his wrist bones and could tell he was about 2 years behind. When he was older the doctor said he would be about 5'7". He was wrong. The kid kept growing after everyone else stopped and ended up to be 5'10.
So it is possible you still might get taller. If not, it isn't a big deal. Height isn't everything.

I was 5'5" at age 19 and never grew above 5'6 1/2". (I round up to 5'7"). I know what you're going through - at that age it feels like a real disadvantage to be a short male. Yes there are disadvantages, both in attracting girls/women and in moving up the corporate ladder. On the other hand, it is certainly not a severe handicap unless you make an issue of it. I ended up doing just fine with the women in college and doing just fine in life. The love of my life, the woman I have lived with for the past several years, is 4'10" and calls me her giant. :-) So focus on those things in your life that you can change, make yourself the best person you can be and life will reward you handsomely regardless of height.

Probably not. Your doctor can tell you for sure. When the growth plates in your legs fuse, then ou are done growing. Some guys are slow growers-such as my son- and will continue to grow until their early twenties. My son was not quite 6' when he graduated high school. He is now 6'2". He finishe growing in collegs...added almost three inches..

If you haven't grown since you were 16, you are probably done....

I would not listen to some of the posts in this thread.

For one, it is actually possible to grow a little even when your growth plates are fused. Also, the femur bone in males can grow until the age of 25. For some people, it grows very slowly in their 20s which is why they don't see any noticeable height increase.

I thought I was done growing but it turns out I'm not. I'm a 19 year old male, soon to be 20, and I am just about 5'10" now. Last year I was 5'8.5". My dad is 5'6 and my mom is 5'4. My mom's side of the family does have some tall guys (6'0" and taller) though which might explain why I'm 5'10 and still growing a little.

Genetics play the main factor in your height but other things can as well. Stretching and cardio work can stimulate height growth. Lifting weights can as well. It's a myth that weight lifting can stunt your growth. Avoid carbonated drinks and too much carbohydrates as these can slow your growth.

Also, get plenty of sleep! Your body produces most of its growth hormone during this time!
